LEGO Star Wars fans have something new to look forward to, with three new diorama-style based on iconic scenes from A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back due to release next month.
The new sets follow the “build-to-display” style you see in a lot of LEGO sets aimed at adult builders, like the Architecture series, with stylised display bases and plaques—though in this case, said plaques feature memorable quotes from the films. Luke’s training on Dagobah, the trash compactor scene from A New Hope, and the Death Star trench run all get the miniaturised diorama treatment, with a focus on the little details that make those moments stand out.

The Death Star Trench Run Diorama (NZD $99.99) depicts a cut-out of the trench, with the mechanical details of the Death Star surface serving as the background models of Luke’s X-Wing, Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced fighter, and two TIE fighters in pursuit. The plaque has one of Vader’s (many) iconic quotes: “The Force is strong with this one.”) When built, the 665-piece set measures 10cm high, 22cm wide, and 15cm deep.
Master Yoda’s hut and the murky swamp of Dagobah take centre stage in the Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama (NZD $139.99), with the planet’s plant life and the wing of Luke’s sunken X-wing tying it to together. This set comes with minifigures of Yoda, Luke in his training outfit, and a mud-flecked R2-D2, with “Do. Or do not. There is not try.” as the quote for the plaque. Dagobah is a 1,000-piece set, measuring 16cm high, 29cm wide, and 17cm deep.

And finally, the Death Star Trash Compactor Diorama (NZD $159.99) captures that classic scene, complete with movable walls, a dionaga’s head, and a whole lot of trash. This one sports six minifigures—Luke and Han Solo in their Stormtrooper disguises, Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2—and Han Solo’s “‘One thing’s for sure. We’re all gonna be a lot thinner.” quip on the plaque. The Trash Compactor’s 802 pieces make up a display that’s 10cm high, 22cm wide, and 15cm deep.
All three sets will be available from April 26 from the LEGO Store and other retailers. Pre-orders from the LEGO Store are open now.
