Scarlet Nexus is coming to Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC, too

Matt RyanBy Matt RyanMay 9, 2020

Yesterday, Bandai Namco unveiled a new “Brain Punk” RPG called Scarlet Nexus as part of the Xbox Series X third-party showcase. Now, they’ve confirmed that it’s coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC, too.

Set in a distant future where extra-sensory powers are the norm, Scarlet Nexus sees humanity under threat by “Others”, alien beings with a hunger for human brains. Others are immune to conventional weapons but susceptible to psychic power, leading to the recruitment of the most talented psychics into the “Other Suppression Force”. Yuito Sumeragi is one such new recruit, who dreams of becoming an elite psionic soldier after being saved by one as a child.

Scarlet Nexus is the latest game from the creative minds behind Tales of Vesperia, drawing on both classic anime and western science-fiction to create its vision of “a Brain Punk future caught between technology and psychic abilities”. It’s an action RPG that puts psycho-kinetic abilities front and centre as you attack foes by lifting, breaking, and throwing pieces of the environment.

“Scarlet Nexus aims to change the way gamers view Japanese RPGs with a powerful futuristic aesthetic as well as a streamlined combat system that balances fast-paced action with strategic planning,” said HervĂ© Hoerdt, Senior Vice President Marketing, Digital, Content at Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe. “Lead by an extremely talented team at Bandai Namco Studios, their combined years of game development experience added in with the power behind the next generation of home console systems will surely deliver on their promise.”

We don’t have a release window yet, but we know Scarlet Nexus coming to Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam. On Xbox, it will support Smart Delivery, meaning that a single purchase gets you access to both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions, based on the console you’re using.
