Lemon Cake will soon let you run a super-cute bakery on Steam

Matt RyanBy Matt RyanJuly 26, 2020

If you want to throw some support behind an absolutely adorable bakery management sim, Lemon Cake is now available to wishlist on Steam.

Lemon Cake is the latest creation from 3D artist and indie developer Éloïse Laroche, who’s focus is on “creating cute and cozy simulation games”. As the new owner of an abandoned bakery, you’ll learn new recipes, grow your own ingredients, plan menus, and try to make sure every customer leaves happy and full of delicious baked goods.

With its cute and colourful presentation—just look at that trailer!—Lemon Cake looks like it could be another welcome addition to what’s been a great year for feel-good, wholesome games. We don’t have a release date yet, but if it comes assuming it comes out this year, it’ll join the likes of Animal Crossing: New Horizon, Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, Summer in Mara, and Ooblets.

Laroche has already launched two games this year, which certainly fit that “cute and cozy simulation” theme. In January, she released Bunny Park, a game about managing a nature park that’s home to a growing number of adorable bunnies. She followed this up in April with Alchemy Story, a casual life sim built around farming and alchemy.

A screenshot from Lemon Cake, showing the customer area of a bakery. There are a few people sitting at tables, and a bench with various baked goods on display.

If you like the look of Lemon Cake, adding it to your Steam wishlist is a great, practical way to show your support. As well as letting you get a reminder when the game’s available to buy, wishlist numbers help a lot with visibility on the Steam store, which is particularly valuable for indie developers without a lot of marketing reach. If you like the look of something, wishlist it—you’ve got nothing to lose, and you’re helping out the developer more than you can imagine.

Lemon Cake is listed as “coming soon” at this stage. Hopefully, it won’t be too long a wait—based on the pretty quick release cycle for Laroche’s previous games, I’d expect it “soon” to actually mean “soon” in this case.
