Bullet hell twin-stick shooter Godstrike comes to Switch and PC next month

Matt RyanBy Matt RyanMarch 15, 2021

Godstrike lands on Switch and PC on April 15, letting players take on celestial beasts in a bullet-hell twin-stick shooter where “time is your greatest asset and most dreaded enemy”.

Godstrike takes place in a chaotic world where the divided remnants of an old divine power wage constant war through Heralds they possess. Playing as Talaal—the forgotten seventh sibling of these warring deities—and its new herald Yissia, players will try to end this apocalyptic war once and for all through frantic, multi-stage boss battles.

The catch is that Talaal and Yissia have to work against the clock: a gradually depleting health bar puts a time limit on every fight that gets shorter with each hit you take. “But running out of time is never the end,” or so says the press release, with more than 20 skills to unlock and tailor your loadouts for each encounter. As well as Campaign Mode, there’s also an Arcade Mode and a randomised Challenge Mode, as well as a Daily Challenge that changes up every 24 hours.

“In Godstrike, time is your greatest asset and most dreaded enemy,” said Pablo Monroy, Art Director, OverPowered Team. “And like Talaal, we’re anxiously counting the seconds until our heavenly bullet-hell shooter hits Nintendo Switch and Steam on April 15!”

Here’s an overview of Godstrike, from its Steam page:

Godstrike is a 3D boss rush bullet hell where time is your health and currency. Face and defeat powerful bosses before time runs out. Taking damage and using abilities drains your remaining combat time, so watch out!

    SKILLS

Unlock over 40 unique abilities by defeating bosses. Customize Talaal’s loadout before each battle to create powerful combos, ability synergies, and a playstyle that’s entirely your own!

    STORY

In Godstrike you are the embodiment of Talaal, the last of God’s seven masks. Talaal finds her bearer just in time to fight against its siblings who hunt her in an attempt to absorb the power within the mask. The bearer is now trapped in a war that does not belong to her, a cycle that seems impossible to break.

    FEATURES

    • Customizable ability loadouts, allowing the players to optimize their game style.
    • Competition focused gameplay so you can challenge your friends and beat the highscores.
    • Multiple game modes, including Roguelite-style mode!
    • Twitch compatibility allowing viewers to affect the game, upgrading and refreshing the game experience.
    • Full gamepad and controller support.

Godstrike launches April 15 on Nintendo Switch and PC. It’s standard price is USD $14.99, and there’ll be a 20% launch discount on both platforms.
