A Little Golf Journey tees up relaxed narrative golf outing next month

Matt RyanBy Matt RyanSeptember 29, 2021

Get ready for a relaxed, playful golf adventure that’s “all about the journey, not the driver”, with A Little Golf Journey set to land on Nintendo Switch and PC on October 14.

A Little Golf Journey combines diorama courses, puzzles, simple controls, and a story about bringing colour back to the world, teasing “the most relaxing round you’ve ever experienced.” From the new launch trailer, it certainly looks like it lives up to that goal, with chill music, soothing colours, and a glimpse at some of the game’s creative environments. All up, it promises over 100 holes split over 10 different locations, but numbers aren’t what’s important here—this looks like a golf spin on the A Short Hike style of laid-back, meditative adventure, spanning deserts, Japanese gardens, even the moon, and that sounds like a dream.

If you need more convincing, here’s a little insight from the release date announcement: “Born from a desire to break away from the hyper-specialisation of AAA game development, A Little Golf Journey took the team at Okidokico on their own journey as they had to master all the disciplines to create their take on Golf whilst creating a relaxing, intriguing narrative with puzzles a plenty and flexibility in play which allows you, the player, to chart your own course through the world.”

That’s the kind of development ethos I can get behind. Here’s hoping A Little Golf Journey lives up to that potential, because it sure looks like it could be something special.
